Friday First | Dream A Little Dream

So I'm writing this whilst sat on a diverted train meaning that I'm going to be terribly delayed, nothing screams glamorous blogger more does it?

I feel like I haven't read a book, let alone wrote a book review in forever. I've been insanely busy with uni and all I've wanted to do is sleep rather than read at night. I also feel like I've completed missed the both on 'Dream A Little Dream' as it came out ages ago and everyone seems to have already reviewed it!

Basically Giovanna has done it again, you all know how in love I am with Billy Buskin, well I now have Brett Last to lust over too, both dream and real! Let's also thank Giovanna for the little bit of sauce added within Dream A Little Dream, wink!

As I've said before Giovanna's writing style makes it so easy for you to just fall in love with the story from the first word and 'Dream A Little Dream' did not let me down. It's taken me longer than normal to read due to uni commitments, but in these past three days I have flown through the rest of the book.

I laughed, I cried, laughed some more and had to hide tears on a train journey but I just know it's going to be a book that becomes one of my most read.

One of the things I admire about Giovanna is her ability to be realistic whilst creating the most dreamy characters and adding in little snippets that we all love, such as Tom from McFly, Nandos and Disney!
I never add in quotes from any book that I am reading but I couldn't not share these three!

Would I recommend Dream A Little Dream? Of course I would. Giovanna is one of my most highly recommended authors and I've already been telling everyone I know that they need to read this book.
Would I re-read Dream A Little Dream? Definitely. It's one of those stories that is incredibly easy to become lost in and that's something I look for in a book, so I just know it will be one I reach for tim and time again.
Overall score out of 5? An incredibly high 4, and that's more because I was such an idiot who took her time making her way through this book. I'm also now in love with Brett, and I want more of Sarah and Brett as well as Sophie and Billy.. I'm now off to dream about double dates.

Have you read Dream A Little Dream? Are you a fan of Giovanna's books? Let me know below.

BzzAgent | Jacob's Cracker Crisps

A kind of blog post that I haven't done in a while, a BzzAgent blog post! This time I was lucky enough to be invited to try the new Jacob's Cracker Crisps and I couldn't be more excited.

I received three full bags, one of each flavour to experience the full flavour. I always find it incredible when companies send out full sized products as samples for people to try.

As with most BzzAgent campaigns I was provided with three vouchers that are designed to be shared with friends when your talking about the product you're trying. They give people 50p off a pack of cracker crisps, which doesn't sound a lot but for a product that retails at the average of £2 a pack, I think for some people that 50p will be enough to persuade them to try. A slight warning if you do decide to try these cracker crisps, they are incredibly moreish and I promise if you try one you'll be wanting more, I struggled to put them down.

I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting from this product, I think in my head I was expecting them to be similar to Ritz Biscuits or maybe like a crisp as the name suggests. However they were a bit thicker and they remind me so much of the little cheese biscuits that everyone seems to buy around Christmas time... Surprisingly I found them to be a lot 'crisper' and there is a definite crunch when you bite into these products. There a three shapes in each bag, whether this is important to people or not is a personal decision.

Sea Salt & Balsamic Vinegar
These were the first flavour to be tested, probably because it's a safe flavour that everybody is familiar with. This isn't the traditional salt and vinegar flavour that people are used to, for me personally the balsamic vinegar adds that hint of sharpness that you'd expect from the vinegar taste but there is also an underlying hint of sweetness. I didn't find them to be overpowering as some salt and vinegar products.

Thai Sweet Chilli
I am someone who loves Thai Sweet Chilli Sensations and I am constantly trying Sweet Chilli flavoured products in the hope to find a similar flavour. These didn't let me down and I instantly fell in love with this flavour, and I honestly think it could be my favourite flavour. As with most sweet chilli flavoured products the more you eat the warmer they become.

Sour Cream & Chive
This was the last flavour I tried and was slightly apprehensive to try. I love sour cream and chive flavoured foods, however I always find that too much of this flavour can become very overpowering. I initially found the flavouring to be a little strong, however the more of this flavour I ate the nicer they became and the more I wanted.

I can honestly say that these products didn't last me long, I highly doubt they've done my diet any good but they are simply so moreish and I struggled to put them down. Luckily for me my Mum was also chosen to be part of this campaign so we had two bags of each flavour for the entire family to try.

If you think this would be your kind of product I'd recommend you trying them, I think they'd work fantastic at a party, a summer BBQ or simply as a snack. I'm not sure if I'll pick up a bag of these at full price, however if I spy them on offer I'll definitely be picking up another bag or two.

Life | Life Of A Student Nurse

So a quick explanation..

If you've been following my blog for a while, or have happened to stumble across my instragram or my Twitter you'll be aware that I've been missing in action for a while and that I've just put that down to the end of university arriving.

Although a few people are confused because most people in their third year of uni are graduating yet I'm still busy with work and placements? That's the life of a student nurse, mental health nurse to be exact! I don't actually finish my course until September and although I've finished all work now and I'm currently enjoying three weeks off, I still have a final placement to complete before my course ends. I also don't graduate until January, just to clear up some further confusion!

You might have noticed a few tweets about how I would love to be graduating with the rest of my friends and yes I cannot wait to wear my cap and gown, but I also love being a nurse and I cannot wait to qualify. So no matter how far behind that places me I suppose, I wouldn't change it for the world. I still get to wear a cap and gown, it's just going to be a hell of a lot colder when I do!

Friday First | Avon Super Extend Liquid Eyeliner

I'm a girl who religiously uses gel eyeliner to create my winged liner; I've never been able to use liquid liner for some reason, it's just a skill I was never properly taught and no matter how much practice it just never worked for me.

I got the Super Extend Eyeliner from Avon free when I bought something else and when I saw it was a felt tip eyeliner I thought "well how hard can it be?", bloody hard is the answer it would seem. I'm just going to put it out there, I need an insane amount of practice with this eyeliner.

As you can see from the pictures above the eyeliner is a sturdy felt tip to provide a little more stability and control when applying this. I'd highly recommend applying this eyeliner in small, short strokes as with all eyeliners, but especially for me who took a few attempts at getting a look I could actually wear outside the house. The pointed tip also provides two types of strokes as you can also see above, a really thin point or a thicker line created with the side of the tip, which I how I covered most of my eye.

I actually felt that I wasn't able to get as close to my lash line as I normally would and despite tight lining I felt that there was still a gap, but I feel that this is probably due to me using a very light hand and being terrified of liquid liner.

Although I wasn't happy with the eyeliner look I created I can't be too harsh on this liner, I'm still completely convinced that it was due to me being a complete virgin with liquid liner. It held well all day and didn't completely melt off my face. It wore slightly at the edges, but this is something I always expect when wearing this kind of look.

Will I continue to use the Avon Super Extend Eyeliner? I will, it's a different eyeliner look than I'd get compared with my gel eyeliner, but I think with more practice it is a look that I'll reach for some days.
Would I repurchase the Avon Super Extend Eyeliner? I'll have to think about this one, I think this will depend on how much practice I put in and if I can get used to this kind of eyeliner.
Would I recommend the Avon Super Extend Eyeliner? If this is the kind of eyeliner that you use then I would. I was really impressed with how sturdy the felt tip was which provided a lot of control during application.
Overall score out of 5? A 3. I need to put in a lot of practice to be able to use this eyeliner without wanting to run away screaming first.

Life | What To Do

These past 12 weeks have been so strange, it's been my management placement and although they have gone insanely quick I also feel incredibly worn out. I think it's fair to say that this has been the toughest and busiest part of uni over these past 3 years.

But anyway I survived management placement, I have been all signed off and I now have my summer holiday for 3 weeks! Compared to most students that is nothing but 3 weeks for me to just do what I want with? That is heaven to me. I'm also very aware that if you're still in school or college you'll be coming up for your summer holidays too.

So what do I have planned for these next three weeks? Well apart from taking all the time in the world for myself and not feeling guilty at all I have a few things that I want to do; of course none essential.

I feel like I have around 4,000 books to finally get around to reading. I'm the kind of person who just has books waiting on my kindle because the blurb will always pull me in. It's actually got to the point where I have had to create a list of books that I want to read that I'm not allowed to add to my Kindle until I've actually got through some of the books already on there.

I need to catch up on so many shows. I don't mean soaps or anything like that, believe me every night me and Mum have made time for our soaps and Big Brother for the past few weeks. No I'm talking shows like Once Upon A Time, I've realised I'm so far behind that it's actually going to be easier to start from the very beginning again. I also wouldn't mind discovering some new shows, so if you have any suggestions let me know below.

I want to properly gut my room. I feel like over the past three years I've accumulated so much crap, and although I do clean and sort my room I have so much hidden away that I just don't need. I think it's time for a proper good sort out, after all I'll be in the big wide world of work soon!

Whether I actually get any of these done or whether I just spend a ridiculous amount of days on the Sims, watching crap on TV, seeing friends and travelling back and forth to Leeds remains to be seen.

Friday First | The Organic Pharmacy

Elle is a magazine that I don't buy monthly, honestly I'm not sure why. But like everyone else I'm a sucker when a magazine comes with free products. The Organic Pharmacy is a company that I'd started to hear a few things about so when I saw that Elle were giving some samples away how could I say no?

The samples provided are pictured about: an Antioxidant Lip Balm, a Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream and a Rose Facial Cleansing Gel.

Antioxidant Lip Balm
This lip balm contains shea butter and vitamin E to help keep lips super soft. It also contains rose hip, which helps to keep in with the rose theme but also contains pomegranate, which helps to explain the taste! The lip balm claims to protect, restore lips and keep lips super soft. I have to admit my lips have felt super soft and restored since using this product. As much as I love this lip balm and it's one of the best lip balms I've ever used, I just cannot justify spending £14.40 on a lip balm!

Double Rose Rejuvenating Face Cream
This face cream claims to be light and nourishing and leave skin feeling hydrated and glowing. I have to admit I have been loving my skin this week since using this cream and it definitely looks and feels a lot better. You can only buy the cream in a glass pot that costs £39.95 which is completely out of my price range, and this has genuinely broke my heart.

Rose Facial Cleansing Gel
Let's just point out the most important thing with this product, the smell is to die for. This face wash claims to gently cleanse and refresh the skin. It works as well as a face wash can work I guess, my skin did feel refreshed. It says to rinse off with a muslin cloth for a deeper cleanse, which is something I don't understand at all, maybe it's just me? For someone with oily and acne prone skin I used face washes targeted towards these, and although it was a pleasant face washing experience, I still feel like my skin needed that little bit more. Also for £45.96 I'd very rarely use this on my face!

All in all I loved these products, I loved how they made my skin look and feel and the scents were clearly a big help! Unfortunately they are completely out of my price range, maybe one day I'll treat myself to something.. Especially the lip balm and face cream.

Did you get a chance to try these products? Have you ever tried anything from The Organic Pharmacy before? Would you consider trying these products? Let me know below!

Life | We Are Family

So even though I've been incredibly busy lately with the end of uni finally approaching for me, and I've been incredibly stressed during this time my family have been the ones to hold me together.

It's times like these where I remember how important family is and spending time together is. Last night we went out to celebrate my Dad's birthday and my parent's wedding anniversary but I wanted a picture cause we rarely get pictures and it sums us up perfectly.

I hear people complain about their families all the time but I've always had a close relationship with mine; they're the people who made me who I am today, have supported me through everything and have never let me down when I needed them most.

This isn't my usual kind of blog post, but it was one that needed to be written.

Friday First | Avon Makeup Setting Spray

It feels so natural to be back writing my Friday Firsts and I have so many products that I have been dying to review, but lets start with the one I have been waiting to review the longest!

Ever since I have been reading and watching beauty reviews I have wanted a makeup setting spray, although it's always been a product that I have never actually picked up as I could never find one within my price range, until now that is!

Technically I didn't buy this product as it was a free gift with something else that I bought from Avon, and I didn't actually know that Avon even did a makeup setting spray. I've been using it daily since.

At first I found it a bit strange to use and I think I was using it too close to my face, believe me spraying something on your face is a very strange feeling if it's not something you're used to. It doesn't perform miracles, not for me anyway as I have oily skin and in the hot weather it just seems worse, but this spray does stop my makeup sliding off my face as soon as I walk on the door and actually make it through to the afternoon!

I tested this out when I went to Slam Dunk and although my foundation did fade, my eyeliner stayed sharp enough to kill all day and night long.

Will I continue to use the Avon Makeup Setting Spray? I will, I've been using it daily and it really does help my makeup to last longer instead of just sliding off my face.
Would I repurchase the Avon Makeup Setting Spray? I will. Initially I wasn't keen on the £6 price tag for one bottle 300ml bottle, but then a little really does go a long way and I'll see how long this bottle lasts me, but I'm sure I'll end up repurchasing this.
Would I recommend the Avon Makeup Setting Spray? Definitely. For people like me with oily skin it saves your makeup just sliding off your face, and I'm sure for those of you lucky enough to have skin that behaves normally it would help your makeup last all day long.
Overall score out of 5? A 4. It doesn't perform miracles for me, but it does stop my makeup sliding down my face. A little goes a long way, and I'm not sure how I got through so many years of makeup without one!

Have you ever tried Avon's Makeup Setting Spray? Would you ever try this product? Do you already use a similar product? Let me know below!
