Shopping | January 2014 Favourites and Purchases.

I always seem to get products at Christmas, this being a mix of both products people know that I love and I'm faithful to and products that are new to me and that I get to try. I can't get through these as quickly as I would like sometimes but I managed to get through enough in a month to satisfy me.

As well as products I also get new clothes, new books, and accessories. January is also usually the month I do my major shopping too, obviously all the Christmas sales and I usually want to treat myself throughout January too.

So let's start with my favourites throughout January. I'll put links to all the products where possible, and include prices where I can. Excuse the poor iPhone quality photos, batteries are needed for my camera!

January Favourites
Boots - Natural Collection WaterGuard Mascara, £1.99.
I love this  mascara for many reasons. I love the way it makes my lashes look, it doesn't feel heavy on my eyes and it's a great price too!

Jean Yves - Loves Me Loves Me Not.
This is one of the four fragrances that I received as Christmas presents and I instantly fell in love with this fragrance, as you can see from the amount I have used already. It is the perfect girly fragrance which you can easily wear on a daily basis, it's also the perfect copy of Marc Jacobs Daisy! The only reason I know where this can be purchased it because it's on the side of the box and I can't wait to be purchasing more.

Avon - Little Black Dress.
Another fragrance that I received as a Christmas present. I also fell in love with this scent, I feel that this is more of a night fragrance and it seems a lot more elegant. On my box it says that it is limited edition, however it can still be found on the Avon website.

Skin Products
Clean & Clear - Exfoliating Daily Wash, £2.99.
I have tried many face washes in the past but since I have been using Clean & Clear I feel that my skin has been so much better, it feels so much smoother and just looks better. I have been using this product for about a year now, and I'm pretty sure I will be staying loyal to this product.

Garnier Moisture Match - Shine Be Gone Mattifying Light Cream, £5.99.
As someone who has combination to oily skin trying to find a moisturizer that mattifies while feeling light on the skin is a difficult task. I can't even tell when I have this moisturizer on and it helps keep me shine free all day! It's normally £5.99, although I think it was on offer for 2 for £6 when I bought mine.

Hair Products
Goldwell - Flat Marvel Straightening Balm.
I wish I could provide a link or price for this product but my mum gets me this from work as she's a hairdresser. This product acts as a heat protector and a straightening balm all in one, as well as adding that little bit of extra shine into my hair. Since using this product my hair is a lot easier to control and feels a hell of a lot nicer too.

Primark - Floral Jeans, £11 (I think!)
I bought these when I went sale shopping, although I purchased these for their full price. I love the pattern on the jeans and I love how they make my legs look. I also feel that paired with a plain top they can really dress up an outfit.

Minnie Mouse Watch.
This was a present that I received for Christmas and I believe it was from Avon. Unfortunately it isn't listed anymore. It's so sparkly and looks so cute. I have a growing obsession with Minnie Mouse, and all things Disney, it's dangerous.

Snood - Butterfly Pattern.
Another find whilst I was sale shopping in Primark a few weeks ago, I feel in love with this snood and thought the colours and pattern would let me pair it with almost everything. I think this was £4.

Nail Products
Barry M - Gelly Hi Shine, Greenberry & Papaya, £3.99.
I bought both of these polishes from Superdrug while they were on offer for 2 for £6, I think this offer spread across the entire nail polish collection. Although now looking I think Barry M Products are on 3 for 2! I fell in love with these polishes and I've seen so many of my friends wearing them so I just had to pick some up. Although these were only bought a week ago and should be in my new purchases I fell in love with them and they quickly became my favourites for this month.

NYC - Matte Me Crazy Mattifying Top Coat.
My mum picked this up for me whilst she was out as she knew how much I was looking for a mattifying top coat and struggling to find one so I'm not sure where she picked it up from or for how much.

Jay Asher - The Future of Us, £3.49 (Kindle Edition). Picture source.
I found Jay Asher through a recommendation for people who enjoyed reading John Green. I didn't know what to expect from this book but I fell in love with the story line, especially the ending. It was also extremely well written. I don't want to give anything away so I just suggest everybody goes and reads this book. I'm actually now currently reading 13 Reasons Why by Jay Asher also, so hopefully I'll love this one just as much.

New Purchases
So I had 45 minutes to spare before my bus home on Friday and it was raining, so I had a look around Primark, which is usually a bad idea as it's very difficult for me to walk into Primark and not walk out without buying something. So here's what I picked up.

Textured Slouch Top - Burgundy
I always enjoy tops that look like I've made an effort but can still be comfortable in them. This top was £5 and is extremely comfortable.

Textured Slouch Top - Grey
Once I'd picked the top up in burgundy I picked it up for the exact same reasons as above. This top was also £5.

Double Layered Butterfly Vest
The minute I saw this top I knew it would be perfectly for my holiday as well as a great summer top. I also think I'll be able to later it up during the colder months. This was £6.

Black Vest Top

No picture needed for this, everyone can imagine a black vest top. I own a lot of tops that I layer up and I just need a black vest top to help layer my tops up. This cost me £2.50

White Seam Free Vest Top
Again, no picture needed for this. Whilst I'm on placement I like to wear thin vest tops under my shirts or tops to provide me with a little bit more coverage as some of my shirts are slightly sheer. Also, leaving the house at silly times in the morning is cold and it also gives me an extra layer to keep me warm. This cost me £3.

Snood - Birds and Butterfly Pattern.
Just like my snood before, I fell in love with this as I was walking towards the tills to pay. Once again I thought that being a different colour to my other one will give me more choice but will also help me to dress up plain tops. This cost me £4.

Life | Lost In A Kindle World.

Looking into buying a Kindle was the best thing I ever did, it was even better when I was then bought one for my birthday. I have the 6" Kindle Wifi, which is the Kindle with the square navigation button at the bottom.
Receiving my Kindle was an amazing present as it was, what made it even more special was that it was loaded with a number of books that they knew I liked and books they knew I wanted to read.

My birthday was in October, and since October I have managed to read 7 books, which actually doesn't sound that impressive but for a nursing student who is constantly travelling and trying to spread her time very thin, that is a very good achievement. So, the order I have read these books are as follows:

  • Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy - Helen Fielding
  • The Fault In Our Stars - John Green
  • Looking For Alaska - John Green Had already read this, but just had to read again.
  • Paper Towns - John Green
  • An Idiot Abroad - Karl Pilkington
  • The Further Adventures of An Idiot Abroad - Karl Pilkington
  • Will Grayson, Will Grayson - John Green
  • The Future of Us - Jay Asher
  • 13 Reasons Why - Jay Asher Currently reading.
I seem to mostly read my Kindle at a weekend to make my train journey go a hell of a lot quicker but I do read in the week also. I just feel that having a Kindle allows me to read a lot quicker and it's just slightly more convenient, I can slip it into any bag and take it with me cause I never know when I'm going to have a spare 5 minutes. It's even coming on holiday with me to pass the time in the airport, on the plane and to relax by the pool.

Since having my Kindle I've been able to read a lot more and I'm so grateful I finally have one. I only joined the scene so many years late!

Welcome to 2014! Slightly late...

Okay so it's the January 24th, very late to be wishing everyone a Happy New Year I know.

So why am I writing this post now? Well, I decided last year that 2014 would be the year I tried something new and would actually stick to it. I do so much for one small person and I feel I actually have enough to write about, so here we are.

As well as being the year that that Beka begins a blog, 2014 is also the year that;
  • I go on my first holiday
  • I complete my second year of university and enter my third
  • Start to properly think about my future

Despite knowing I wanted to do this before Christmas, it's taken me so long to actually start blogging due to the fact that I had no idea what I wanted my blog to be about. Over the last few weeks, in between all my university and general life thoughts I've had some blogging thoughts floating around too with different ideas. I decided instead of trying to keep my blog to one topic I'll just write about all topics.

I'm not 100% sure what these topics will be yet, although I know that I want to be blogging at least once a week. This could be a just about my week in general, or something else such as a new product I am loving, something new that I have bought and I just want to tell everyone about, monthly favourites or anything else that springs to mind!

I have a few ideas for some posts that I definitely want to do but apart from that we'll see where this goes.

So I don't really have anything else to say apart from welcome to 2014 and welcome to the little world of Beka!
